My Stampin Up Journey

It all started a few months ago.  My sister, now my upline, Gwen Bloomfield, tempted me into this world by sending me a beautiful card that she had made.  Of course there were the ooh's and aah's, followed by the how did you do that... show me!!

At the time, we lived in a small town.  Not very crafty and I didn't think at the time there was any call for a Stampin Up demonstrator, but I was so taken by the quality, I knew it was something that I wanted to do.  I told Gwen that if we ever moved to Armidale, the first thing I was going to do was sign up!!  and I did!

Of course signing up is one thing.  I am now in a town, where I do not know more than 4 people, I have the wonderful title of Maggie Skerrett,  Independant Stampin Up demonstrator,  I even have brand new business cards to say that is who I am.  I have my start up kit,  a few supplies and I am ready to go!!  I am ready to take Armidale by storm and show them what we are all about!!

Of the 4 people I know, I have promises of 2 workshops to help me get started, but I wanted so much more.... I have been a demonstrator for nearly a month now.... people should be knocking down my door to put in orders and book workshops... shouldn't they?

So,  with my limited funds, I went out and invested in some stamps....  Printed off a few letters and sent them off to pre schools and mothers groups.  I introduced myself to them,  offered my services to them as a fund raiser for their group with a promise of 10% of their sales, not to mention the hostess dollars to buy stamps and supplies that could be used by their group.     With in 2 days, I had my first booking for a workshop for 40 participants!!

I had to call Gwen,  I was so excited.   I can still remember the moment when I told her.... the sound of her dropping the phone as she passed out.    Once recovered,  she kindly offered to come down with another person to help with the mamoth task ahead.    So stay tuned.... it is on the 4th of August.... I will have to let you know how it went.
