More playing with Simply Scored

I bet you can't guess what I have been playing with today!!

Today, I decided to have a bit of a play (again) with the Simply Scored... Actually, I call it "In Service" training.   After all,  I can't be expected to sell something that I am not too familiar with... can I ?

Now, keep in mind, the rosettes, or lollies, as some people call them, are not made out of my precious Stamping Up supplies.... I am using up my generic materials for practice, and when I am happy with a result, I will make one or two (or several) in Stampin Up supplies.   There is such a difference in quality between Stampin Up and these Generic papers.... Stampin Up, holds it shape, folds crisply, and doesn't tear.   I can't tell you how many I threw away... but I can tell you that I am now proficient at making rosettes!! 

The little folders hold 6 cards and envelopes,  So I have just made up 6 plain white cards and embossed the front panel so they can be used for any occasion.    I am trying to put a tutorial together and put it on my tutorial page... but that may just take a little time. 

In the meantime, this is how I made the folders.

Take and A4 piece of cardstock and cut it at 6!/2 inches wide.  Then place it on the Simply Scored imperial measurement ( I still think in inches, sorry)  and score at 3, 3 1/2, 8, and 81/2 inches.  Fold at the score lines.  

Now take the little bit that you cut of the original cardstock, and cut 2, 3 inch pieces, and score them lengthwise at 1/2 inch and 1 inch.  fold along the score line.  You can use these as the side bits of the box.  Just simply glue into place. 

Add your embellishments, and you are done!

Simply scored

Today, I decided to play with the Simply Scored tool.  I knew when I saw it in the catalogue, it was one of those things that I just had to have!!!  But when I got it, the excitement had died down a little... I thought, OK, I can score envelopes and boxes, but what else can I do with it?  I don't know about you, but I also found that scoring was sometimes a little hard... it didn't score smoothly on some cardstock. 

I set out to find a solution and after much fiddling, I came up with the idea of waxed lunch paper.  I cut enough to envelope my cardstock inside it, and then started scoring on top of the waxpaper... it turned out perfectly and it made it so easy. The stylus just glided over the cardstock.   I hope that little tip will help you as well.

OK, enough of the chatter,  this card is the result of my playing with the simply scored.  I created a background with a few score lines, then got the black cardstock and scored it to resemble corrogated iron (should have used grey though). 

oops... just realised that I haven't added a sentiment..... stay tuned!! 

Another one for the Challenge

OK,.... I had a heap of little bits of cardstock left, so I decided to go with the flow of this sudden burst of creativity!!   Now to go read the rules and see if I can submit two cards!! 

My First Challenge Entry

My sister invited me to enter a colour challenge at www.sunnychallenges.blogspot.com .  This is my very first challenge as an Independant Stampin Up demonstrator.   It really was a challenge too!!  I have only a few of the current stamp sets, 1 or 2 pieces each of the coloured card stock, and mainly the ink spots for my stamp pads.... so here is the final result.  I am quite pleased with it... I hope you all like it too!! 

The colour challenge was for Cherry Cobler, Marina Mist, and River Rock.

The flowers were made with the Big Shot Blossom Party.

Sometimes, Mistakes turn out OK!!

Here I am, back from Qld after spending a wonderful week with my sister Gwen.  Gwen spent hours with me, teaching me different techniques and ever so gently trying to guide me in the right direction!! 

So now left to my own devices, I decided to make a card that will knock your  socks of so to speak.  I started with a sketch, some designer paper, ink pads and stamps.  This card was going to really have the WOW factor. 

Now keep in mind that I am very new to this, so my supplies are extremely limited.  Every morsel of designer paper and card stock has to be used.... I can not afford to waste a thing!! 

So sketch in hand,  I decide on a nice 6x4 inch card, .... that is where my well laid plans finished.  I for whatever reason cut my card the wrong way, but knowing I couldn't waste anything, I continued on and this is the result.... a bit strange, but I think it turned out ok.  What do you think??

A Few of my Recent Creations

My Very First Post

I have always considered myself to be pretty cluey when it came to computers and the internet... but at the same time, I know when it's time to leave it to the experts.... I am not one of those people to fiddle and try to fine tune things if I don't know 100% what I am doing.   Saying that.... I was just about to leave this blogging thing to other people!!  For the life of me, I couldn't figure it out... it was quickly heading towards the too hard basket. 
This morning, it is quiet, so I turned the computer on, had a bit of a surf... checked out some really nice stamping sites and wondered why on earth can't I set up a blog.   So back to old Mr Google I go, typed in Blogger.... went to the first site... and BINGO... here I am!!  I can't believe it! 
Oh I still have a long way to go.... I have to figure out how to get pictures up, how to add buttons and all sorts of stuff.... but at least I am here!!  So hopefully,  the next time you visit... I will up and running at full capacity.... so until then, I will bid thee farewell!!
